Yamaha AFC Image
How can an outdoor immersive system turn an open field into a coherent listening space?
This project applied Yamaha AFC Image to an outdoor field where the lack of natural reflections made it difficult to create a stable sense of space. The goal was to treat the whole venue as one extended performance area rather than concentrating every image at the front stage.
I designed and operated a 9.1-channel system based on Yamaha DME7, a Dante network, and an L-Acoustics KARA main system. My work covered loudspeaker layout and alignment, network and signal-flow design, system tuning, parameter adjustment, and live operation.
The system was deployed in a live outdoor performance and provided the practical starting point for a separate study of how the AFC renderer converts spatial coordinates into loudspeaker gains.
